Why is Music Important in Schools?

There are many benefits to having music programs in schools. Not only does it give those musically inclined students a means of learning about a field that might lead to a career, but also it helps all students have a positive, safe outlet for their emotions, provides a vehicle for self-expression, builds confidence and camaraderie among students. These benefits are not anecdotal findings from teachers and parents but actually have been scientifically documented.
